The freight ship

Proudly I present you my work of art: the houseboat B&B LE MAROXIDIEN.

The historical houseboat was in the past a freight ship. It could have continued as that for many more years, but the previous owner decided to turn it into a houseboat. Because I wanted to make it possible for visitors to Amsterdam to experience how life on the water is, I fitted the boat out with guestrooms.

Of course, the boat has all the necessary equipment at your disposal: central heating, running water (hot & cold), electricity, kabel and internet.

In my B&B you will experience something very special. The freight ship has been so renovated, that historical elements of a ship have been preserved.

One last indication about life on the water: people who are afraid of getting seasick do not need to be scared - the boat hardly moves and the bank is always near.

Ever dreamed of being awoken by quacking ducks and row-boats on a Sunday? Ever been surprised by herons and swans, and that in the midst of a city?

Enjoy the silence and the vieuw on the water aboard my B&B LE MAROXIDIEN!

The historical houseboat B&B LE MAROXIDIEN is located in the centre of Amsterdam, on Prins Hendrikkade 534, between Central Station and the Scheepvaart Museum. It is the ideal starting place for your visit and within walking distance of the Nieuwe Markt, Waterlooplein, the Palace on the Dam, and various restaurants, cafés, concerthouses and theatres.

All means of public transport (bus, tram, train, underground) are close by the B&B.

The Prins Hendrikkade is a street in the centre of Amsterdam. The street is named in 1879 after Prins Hendrik (1820-1879), the youngest son of King Willem II.

Known buildings on the Prins Hendrikkade are the Victoria Hotel, the Sint Nicolaas Church, the Schreiers Tower and the Scheepvaart House.

The houseboat B&B LE MAROXIDIEN is located at the third pier, in front of housenumber 145.

It will be my pleasure to give you information about Amsterdam and its surroundings. I also know a lot about ecology and vegetarism, and can inform you about vegetarian restaurants, organic shops, etc.

Parking in Amsterdam is very expensive.
Better is to use the P+R Sloterdijk. There you pay 6,50 euros for 24 hours en you get 2 tickets for the train to central station.

From central station it is about 10 minutes walking to the boat. .

On tuesdays and wednesdays, arrival in between 13.00 and 21.00 is not possible.

See you soon!
